Ice Fishing Closes on February 12

This year the smelt fish ice fishing center will close on February 12, about a month earlier than the usual years.

This is to protect the smelt fish which has shown very poor catch this season.

My husband who usually catches more than 500 smelt fish (using a rod) in a day can only catch 50 or so per day. I heard that the commercial fishermen have also given up this season.

If you have plans to try ice fishing activity this year, please come by February 12. There’s always a “beginner’s luck”!
