Flower Season! – MOSS PHLOX

Shiba Sakura – the Japanese name for these petit flowers is translated Lawn Sakura.  Sure enough, the flowers cover the ground densely.  Colors vary from pure white to dark pink, and blankets the ground with colorful patterns.  They grow in many parts of Japan, and in the Okhotsk area the parks in Higashi Mokoto and Takinoue are famous.  The Moss Phlox Festival at Higashi Mokoto is from May 3 to June 2.
