Japan Will Be Opening To Foreign Tourists On June 10!

The government announced on May 26 that Japan will be opening borders to foreign tourists as of June 10.

Yay!

There still will be restrictions such as:
(1) countries subject are the designated 98 countries including the US, China and Korea
(2) daily cap on new arrivals will be increased to 20,000 from the current 10,000, including those on student visas and business trips
(3) travelers will need to be vaccinated 3 times
(4) trips will be restricted to “packaged group tours” of small number of people with an escort of a tour conductor

It hasn’t been clear if all areas in the country can be visited – it’ll depend on the covid situation of each prefecture.  But I know at least that the international airports in Hokkaido and Okinawa will also commence operation.

It looks like there’s still many hurdles to overcome, but the good news is that you don’t need to go through the long line of PCR tests on your arrival to Japan anymore!!!
